Pienza

It belongs to the UNESCO heritage. In the small town of art of the Val d'Orcia are three museums to be visited (Museo diocesano, Museo della Città, Palazzo Piccolomini) and art and cultural events any season of the year.
The historical centre is rich in ancient palaces and panoramic balconies and terraces overlooking the Val d'Orcia; from there it is possible to enjoy unforgettable walks to the old Romitorio (hermitage) to the country church of Pieve di Corsignano (X century) to the Church of Santa Caterina.
It is also worth knowing the gastronomic tradition of Pienza: from the famous Pecorino Cheese, the "Porchetta" (a whole roasted pork), the special cake "Serpe di mandorle" to the well-known "pici" (hand made pasta).

Montepulciano

"The Pearl of the XVI century" situated on a unique panoramic position, has a historical centre of great interest and charm and an important Civic Museum.
The Cathedral of San Biagio is one of its most famous masterpieces to be visited together with "La chiesa del Gesù" and la Chiesa della Madonna delle Grazie, the last two are both wonderful examples of the Baroque Art
Also known are the great Renaissance palaces in Piazza Grande and Via del Corso, and the majolica works of Della Robbia inside the Duomo.
One of the greatest attraction of Montepulciano is also its famous wine: ‘Vino Nobile di Montepulciano’. It is possible to visit the old winecellars of the palaces, real architectural masterpieces, or to pay a visit to the many wine-cellars scattered in the nearby countryside. Historical or characteristic bars, winebars and restaurants are also worth a visit while walking along the strets of Montepulciano.

Bagno Vignoni

The old houses are built all around the large, medieval pool which constitutes the centre of Bagno Vignoni.a spa resort known since medieval times. It was also popular with Santa Caterina from Siena and Lorenzo de' Medici, who went here to cure themselves with the therapic natural hot water
Here Igor Tarkovski, the famous Russian film director, shot 'Nostalghia' one of his masterpieces which has made the small village popular in the world.
Bagno Vignoni is also famous with many trekking lovers as it is on a panoramic position among medieval paths and roads which can be still walked through. In Bagno Vignoni is it also possible to see the ruins of an old system of watermills at ‘Parco dei Mulini', Large and beautiful swimming pools with warm and hot waters offer the tourists the possibility to plunge into them and enoy the natural massage of its falling waters.

Petroio

Petroio has been famous since the ancient times for its pottery makers: the 'cocciai'. Its pottery is of high quality and sold all over the world.
Hometown to 'Brandano', a known hermit and prophet from Siena, the village has a spiral shaped plan which leads to the medieval fortified tower and the severe parish church. Its location among holm-oaks and olive-groves makes Petroio the ideal destination of excursionists and nature lovers.
The Museo della Terracotta (earthenware museum) is worth a visit. In it it is reconstructed the history of the old village and of its ancient artisan tradition.
Petroio is also famous for the production of an organic exravergin olive-oil with the special mark: Olio novo di Podere, which the local cooperative exports all over the world.
